New Mixtapes!!!

August has been a great month for Hip-Hop heads. I'm not going to waste time talking about the Throne here - everyone already knows about that. Nah, this here is about the hungry rappers grinding hard, putting in studio time like my roommate T-Dubs in the gym. There was a while when I wasn't listening to any new rappers
because nobody was original. I'm glad to say these days are over. I'm messing with a lot of the new dudes who've created a personal brand. The past two weeks have seen the release of mixtapes by three of my favorite "new" (ill-ass) rappers:

The Elevenon Eleven Theory: Wale has been puttin in serious studio time since being signed to MMG. This is a preview of whats to come later this year when he drops his sophomore album Ambition. In my opinion his album should be called Inspirtation. because that's what the boy has experienced ever since aligning himself with Rozay. In an interview earlier this year Wale said that his studio work ethic was weak, treating it as more of a 9-5 thing. He explains it was Ross who told him while at the studio he needs "get lost in the music" and fully commit himself to his craft (Wayne anyone?). Get the mixtape - joint is hot. Don't skip over the spoken-word intro; this is Wale being true to his roots and he spits some thought provoking ish.

The Last King 2: Big K.R.I.T. is like the most genuine dude to drop in the last couple years. I didn't really mess with him until this March's Return of 4Eva mixtape, which was more of a fuggin album and made me go grab his old stuff. His format is basic and he stays in his lane - which is why he'll always have one.  Krit is just as introspective as his peers, but his delivery adds an authenticity to his story that the listener doesn't have to  search for in his lyrics. Not knocking them, but Wale, Drake and J. Cole are yearn for their audience to relate to them and feel their pain, whereas my man Krit just tells it like it is. His debut "album" Live from the Underground is set to  drop September 27th.

Dream Chasers: MMG's certified assassin Meek Mill drops this new mixtape with the help of none other than DJ Drama. He definitely was Capo to Rick Ross this spring  on the MMG album Self Made. He also made a   name for himself murdering his own team and hogging the mic on all live freestyles they kicked while promoting the album. Mill is a Philly dude but he is definitely bringing that New York, battling-rapping, hot-spitting shit back. I don't know if its his flow or his high-voice - which is a rarity these days - that make's his verses stand out. Whatever it is, he's on fire right now you should definitely give this joint a run.
